Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Khyzhnyak won a gold medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. He competed in the 80 kg weight category and defeated the world champion from Kazakhstan 3-2 in a tense final match.

The final fight was a real test for Khyzhnyak. His opponent from Kazakhstan, who is the current world champion, repeatedly tried to impose his game, but Oleksandr confidently controlled the fight. The last rounds were decisive, where the Ukrainian was able to show his class and secure victory.
This is Ukraine's third gold medal at the 2024 Olympics. And the first "gold" in Khyzhnyak's career; at the 2020 Games, he became vice-champion.
“Another gold medal at the Olympics in Paris for Ukraine. Boxer Oleksandr Khyzhnyak won first place.” President Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated the athlete on an important victory, expressing gratitude for his strength, confidence, and incredible success.
“Thank you for your strength, for your confidence, for this important victory!” said Zelensky.
The President also emphasized the importance of supporting Ukrainian athletes and called for cheering for Ukraine and Ukrainians in all competitions.
"We continue to support all our athletes. We cheer for Ukraine, we cheer for Ukrainians!" Zelensky added.
