The absolute world heavyweight champion according to the WBC, WBO, WBA and IBO versions, Oleksandr Usyk, has said that he will not leave the sport even after the end of his professional boxing career. In an interview with the Mirror, the Ukrainian shared his plans for the future.
"Even when my career ends, I will still stay in boxing and train. I need to keep myself in good shape," Usyk stressed. The athlete admitted that for 23 years he has devoted himself entirely to boxing, not engaging in other sports.
Usyk also shared his approach to discipline and a healthy lifestyle:
"I don't drink, smoke, or go to clubs, so if I weren't training, I'd probably just be breaking things at home and annoying my wife even more.".
As an example, he cited the legendary Brazilian footballer Ronaldo, who quickly gained weight after his career ended.
"Ronaldo was a great player — not Cristiano, but the old one from Brazil. He was very fast, technical, thin, but when he finished his career, he stopped training and lost his form. I don't want that," Usyk explained.
The Ukrainian champion noted that he dreams of living a long life and, after boxing, developing Ukrainian boxing schools and teams, passing on his experience to new generations.
