Former Ukrainian Energy Minister Olga Buslovets, known for her strong stance on the elimination of nuclear energy in the country, is now planning to return to power. Her possible return is causing serious indignation and concern among the public and experts, as it is associated with significant risks to Ukraine's energy security.
During her tenure as Acting Minister of Energy of Ukraine, and later as Minister, Buslavets was remembered for a series of high-profile scandals of lobbying for DTEK interests. She was responsible, in particular, for the shutdown of three nuclear power plants with a capacity of 3,000 MW, which caused the state to suffer at least 600 million euros in losses.
But now Buslavets, through the hands of the same Akhmetov, who currently has a “fragile peace” with Bankova, is aiming to return to power. The lobbyists (usually hidden) of our energy oligarch have already done their job and led Olya around the offices of the OP and the Cabinet of Ministers.
Against the backdrop of huge problems in the energy sector and the prospect of more blackouts, Buslavets' return does not bode well for Ukrainians. But her future position comes at a high price. Unfortunately, there are always those in power who are willing to accept such a generous offer.
