At a checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, employees of the Transcarpathian customs prevented the illegal import of old books that may have historical value. The customs press service reported this.

The contraband was discovered during customs control of a MINI COOPER D COUNTRYMAN car driven by a Ukrainian citizen. The driver chose the "green corridor" lane to cross the border and assured inspectors that he was not transporting items that were subject to declaration or restricted for import.
However, in the trunk of the car, customs officers discovered 13 old prints dating from 1700–1900, which were carefully hidden among personal belongings.
Customs officers sent a report to the Security Service of Ukraine regarding the violation of customs legislation. Preliminary qualification: Article 201 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (smuggling).
The seized books have been submitted for examination — their historical and cultural value will be determined by experts.
