A border guard in the Lviv region was caught trying to illegally sell an army Vampire attack hexacopter. According to the investigation, the soldier appropriated the combat equipment and tried to sell it for $17,000.
The incident was reported by the publication 368.media with reference to the materials of the criminal proceedings under Part 4 of Article 410 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - theft, appropriation, extortion of military property under martial law.
The attacker turned out to be a mobilized junior sergeant of the State Border Service of Ukraine, a pilot of the 2nd Border Rapid Response Commandant's Office. He decided to "earn some extra money" on an army Vampire hexacopter, which is designed to drop ammunition on enemy positions.
Together with his cousin, in the town of Sheptytskyi, the border guard demonstrated a drone to a serviceman from another unit and offered to purchase it for 700 thousand hryvnias, or the equivalent in foreign currency - $17 thousand.
The illegal actions were documented, and the junior sergeant has already been declared a suspect. He now faces criminal proceedings under an article that carries a penalty of up to 15 years in prison.
As a reminder, Vampire is a development of Ukrainian engineers, a specialized drone-bomber capable of carrying and dropping ammunition, including on hard-to-reach enemy positions. It is being transferred exclusively for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
