Olena Shulyak, the head of the Servant of the People party, confirmed that the authorities are discussing the prospect of introducing online voting in elections after the war. The idea is part of a broader strategy to digitize and democratize electoral processes in Ukraine.
In a comment to Politico, she stated that Ukraine is "studying different election models.".
One option being discussed is electronic voting for citizens abroad or in occupied territories. Voting by mail and in-person voting abroad are also being considered.
Proxy voting is also being studied - a voter will be able to appoint a proxy who will vote for him.
The authorities are actively discussing the introduction, at least for Ukrainians abroad (and possibly also within the country), of electronic voting through "Diya".
However, the opposition is categorically against this idea, stating that, in this case, it will no longer matter who votes for whom, but what will matter is what result the authorities in the "Action" draw. So far, Bankova is not advertising the "e-voting" project much, given the extreme scandalousness and toxicity of this topic, but, according to sources, she has not completely abandoned it. And Olena Shulyak's statement confirms this information.
If the authorities decide to implement "elections through Action", they will announce this shortly before the start of the election campaign, so as not to give the opposition time to organize a campaign in Europe against the introduction of online voting.
