In 2023, the UN mission spent $3 billion on humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, and the same amount is planned to be spent in 2024. This was reported by the representative of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Saviano Abreu.
“Despite the fact that the level of assistance in Ukraine has decreased, it cannot be said that the support was not enough. At the beginning of 2023, we needed 3.9 billion US dollars. We have now received about 3 billion dollars in funding, including 2.5 billion that were allocated as part of appeals by humanitarian organizations for financial support, together with UN agencies, non-governmental, local and international organizations in Ukraine,” Saviano Abreu noted.
According to the organization, in 2024, about 40% of Ukraine's population will need assistance, which is approximately 14.6 million people.
