According to the results of a new study, 64% of Ukrainians currently living abroad intend to return to the Motherland. This indicates a growing interest in returning to Ukraine among the diaspora, which left the country for various reasons.
Gradus Research experts note, publishing the results of the study, that 64% of migrants from Ukraine have not adapted to life in other countries and intend to eventually return home.
According to the results of the survey, the greatest desire to return to Ukraine is expressed by migrants who work remotely for Ukrainian businesses - 70%. Likewise, those migrants who are temporarily unemployed express the greatest desire to return to Ukraine - 68%.
In part, the desire to return to Ukraine is influenced by the experience of aggressive behavior of citizens of other countries towards migrants. At least 23% of respondents reported that they had a correspondingly negative experience. At the same time, no less than 60% of respondents believe that staying abroad guarantees their personal safety. 65% feel the safety of children in such living conditions. Accordingly, the feeling of safety for oneself or one's own child is one of the key factors preventing return.
Another important indicator in the survey is the percentage of those who can name the time or indicate the approximate date of their return. Currently, more than half – 62% – cannot say when they will be able to return home.
36% of the surveyed migrants believe that a significant factor that will influence their decision will be the availability of real financial support at the time of resettlement. For a slightly smaller number of respondents - 33% - it is important first of all to obtain or have the opportunity to arrange housing for oneself in the territory of Ukraine, where there is a high level of security. 27% of respondents believe that they intend to return home immediately if air defenses in the country are properly strengthened.
The survey was conducted by Gradus Research using the survey method in the Gradus mobile application/online platform.
