Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has said that Ukraine will remain a "buffer state" between the West and Russia and will not be able to join the European Union (EU) and NATO after the end of the war.
He made these comments during his visit to Romania, where security and regional policy issues were discussed.
According to him, "we, Europeans, do not have enough money" for the admission of Ukraine to the European Union. "The EU has lost the war and it will have to pay for it, and the price will be high," Orbán added.
"European politics has collapsed. The introduced sanctions harm fundamental European interests, increase energy prices and make the European economy uncompetitive," Orban said.
He believes that Europe now has two paths.
"One of them is an open-air museum, for which the continent remains under the control of the United States. Another option is strategic autonomy and, thus, entry into the competitive struggle," said the Prime Minister of Hungary, quoted by the Magyar Nemzet newspaper.
