Amid the ongoing war in Ukraine, the level of knowledge of teenagers is at least two years behind the required standard. This alarming statement was made by Deputy Minister of Education Nadiya Kuzmichova, emphasizing the serious consequences that the conflict is having on the educational process.
“Educational losses do not just affect a child’s individual development – they can ultimately hinder the economic and social progress of an entire country. The World Bank predicts that due to educational losses, these students will collectively lose billions of dollars in income over their lifetime. This is a real threat to our human capital and the development of the entire country,” said Kuzmichova.
She said that the Ministry of Education is developing a strategy to return children to in-person education to compensate for these losses.
Let us remind you that this year alone, 300,000 schoolchildren left Ukraine on the eve of the start of school.
