Ukraine needs to develop a state policy on refugee return, including children and young people. This was stated by the educational Ombudsmenko Nadiya Leshchyk in an interview with Ukrinform agency, commenting on the alarming trend of departure of senior students abroad.
According to her, there are currently no clear statistics on departure by age, but both girls and boys are actively disappearing from schools. At the same time, teachers and directors report a gradual decrease in the number of students of eleventh grades studying - part of the students goes to distance learning and goes to other countries.
"What is forcing you to leave? Safety is the main thing. But parents are scared of reports of a possible decrease in mobilization age up to 18 years. This also affects decision making ," Ombudsmenko said.
Leshchyk adds that, despite the difficulty of adapting children abroad, many families do not see the alternative of departure: "Sometimes you look at children abroad and see that they cannot always adapt there, there are problems. They would be better here. But we must talk about them."
According to the results of the survey conducted by the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights, critical factors are critical factors to return Ukrainians from abroad:
-
availability of housing,
-
stable work,
-
family ties in Ukraine,
-
The quality of educational prospects for children.
According to Leshchyk, the state should not only declare the desire to return refugees, but also offer real incentives and security guarantees.
