Over the past week, more than 132,000 people in Ukraine fell ill with acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI). This is 15.3% less than a week earlier, according to the Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health. However, the flu continues to circulate actively, and in several regions the epidemic threshold has been exceeded.
According to official data, from March 31 to April 6, 132,903 Ukrainians were diagnosed with acute respiratory viral infections, more than half of whom were children (71,911 cases). Despite the general downward trend, influenza viruses are circulating in 72% of regions.
Three deaths from influenza were recorded during the reporting week — all three deceased were unvaccinated. This once again confirms the importance of vaccination, the Central Health Center emphasizes.
Regarding COVID-19, 164 cases were detected last week. No deaths due to coronavirus have been registered.
The most tense situation is in Zhytomyr, Lviv, Ternopil, and Cherkasy regions. There, the incidence rate has exceeded the low-level epidemic threshold. In other regions, including Kyiv, a pre-epidemic situation is observed.
Since the beginning of the epidemic season (September 30, 2024), more than 3.9 million people have already fallen ill in Ukraine. This is about 11% of the population. During this period, 185 deaths related to complications of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections have been recorded.
