In Transcarpathia, border guards uncovered an attempt to cross the border illegally: they found eight men hiding behind a specially equipped wall in a minibus loaded with vegetables. The incident occurred near the checkpoint of the Vylok border department of the Mukachevo detachment.
According to the DPS of Ukraine, the Mercedes Sprinter vehicle belonged to a 63-year-old resident of Transcarpathia. During the inspection, the driver assured the border guards that he was not transporting anything except vegetables. However, during a detailed inspection of the minibus, the border guard noticed an unusual additional wall. Eight men were hiding behind her, among whom were residents of different regions: Kherson, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Zakarpattia, and Lviv.
The men planned to cross the border illegally and reach Hungary outside official checkpoints. However, their "plan" turned out to be unsuccessful.
The driver and "passengers" were detained and taken to the border unit. According to law enforcement officers, the driver's actions fall under Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for responsibility for illegal transportation of persons across the state border .
Currently, operatives of the Mukachevo detachment are investigating all the circumstances of the organization of this "trip". Border guards are checking the driver's possible connections with the organizers of the scheme of illegally transporting men of draft age abroad.
Such attempts to evade mobilization in wartime are not isolated. Recently, in a similar case, a citizen of Moldova was sentenced to eight years in prison for organizing a channel for illegal smuggling of persons.
