Obesity, diabetes and gout: Why should you forget about carbonated drinks

The human body is more than 60% of water, and the daily replenishment of fluid is vital. However, not everyone choose ordinary water - more and more sweet carbonated drinks. Although the damage to the gastrointestinal tract has long been known for the gastrointestinal tract, doctors are increasingly alarmed and due to its impact on the immune system.

Sugar is a "friend" of viruses

One of the main problems of carbonated beverages is the content of a large amount of sugar. Excess sugar in the body not only promotes the reproduction of harmful microorganisms, but also inhibits cells of the immune system. In fact, sugar feeds bacteria and viruses while weakening the body's natural protective barriers.

Doctors advise to limit the consumption of carbonated drinks to a maximum of one glass per week.

The risk of diabetes

Daily consumption of even one jar of sweet carbonated water leads to a decrease in insulin sensitivity - a key factor in type 2 diabetes. Endocrinologists recommend that sugary drinks, including carbonated, as well as abandoning foods with a high content of saturated fats, completely exclude from the diet. A comprehensive approach with diet and physical activity can restore insulin sensitivity.

Inflammation and gout

Battle drinks are also associated with an increase in uric acid in the blood. According to a study published in PubMed, ordinary soda significantly increases the level of this substance in the body. And excess uric acid is a direct path to the development of gout. This effect was noticeably stronger than the use of diet, milk or plain water.

Carbonated water and overweight

Specialists of the coalition against obesity say that regular consumption of sweet carbonated drinks contributes to weight gain. Extra kilograms in turn affect the production of cytokines - protein molecules necessary for the proper operation of the immune system. Thus, obesity caused by excess calories from sweet drinks indirectly undermines immunity.

Conclusion: carbonated drinks are not just empty calories. It is a direct risk to health, in particular for the immune system. If you want to maintain immunity, you should review your daily habits - and start with water.
