Parking inspector of the Kamianets-Podilskyi City Council Mykola Shevchuk was fined 17,000 hryvnias for illegal use of the symbols of the National Police of Ukraine.
This was reported by Glavkom with reference to data from the court registry.
"I would like to thank Mr. Mykola Shevchuk, the parking inspector, for his principled and responsible position regarding sanctions. When he recognized me as a people's deputy, he calmly continued recording the violation and issuing a receipt, and did not try to help me avoid a fine in any way. Times and the system are changing..." - wrote the "servant" Marchuk.
The photograph shows a patch with the special rank of police lieutenant colonel attached to the inspector's jacket.
In court, the inspector pleaded not guilty. He said that his direct work was related to communicating with offenders, and in order to avoid conflicts, he placed policeman's shoulder straps on his clothes. Shevchuk noted that he had the same rank at his previous job (in the tax service).
The inspector confirmed that he fined MP Marchuk on November 11, 2024. In response, the elected official offered to take a photo. Later, he learned that the politician had published this photo on Facebook.
According to Themis, the inspector's guilt has been proven. Instead, he tried to avoid administrative liability by artificially delaying the case.
The decision of the court of first instance can be appealed. If the appellate court leaves everything unchanged, the inspector will have to pay the fine within 15 days.
