A large-scale scheme of misappropriation of funds allocated for the reconstruction of the Orlyatko Park in Solomyanskyi district has been uncovered in Kyiv. Law enforcement officers have reported suspicions of a businessman and a former official of the Kyivzelenbud municipal association, who are involved in the illegal receipt of over 800 thousand hryvnias from the city budget.
According to police, in June 2023, the former director of a private enterprise, together with the head of one of the departments of Kyivzelenbud, entered false data into the acts of completed works. The work involved the reconstruction and improvement of the park, including landscaping, replacing tiles, and removing construction debris.
Some of the work was not actually performed, but the contractor reflected it in the reports, and the official signed the documents. Thanks to this, the contractor received over 800 thousand hryvnias, which was confirmed by expert examinations.
The former director of the company was informed of suspicion of entering false information into documents and taking someone else's property by abusing his official position. The former official of "Kyivzelenbud" was indicted for aiding and abetting these acts. Both defendants face up to eight years in prison.
