EU Party and Voice have blocked a solution that could reduce electricity tariffs

For over a year, the European Solidarity and Voice factions have blocked an important decision of the Verkhovna Rada, which could have a significant impact on Ukraine's energy security and reduce the tariff burden on citizens. This was stated by political expert Petro Oleshchuk, commenting on the failure of the Nuclear Reactors in Bulgaria in time.

"The paradox, but most of all the 'catastrophe for wallets' are those who themselves systematically block the solutions that could protect the same wallets," Oleshchuk said.

It is about two nuclear reactors that Bulgaria was ready to sell to Ukraine. These installations were planned to be used for the completion of units №3 and # 4 of Khmelnitsky NPP. In case of implementation, Ukraine would receive 2.2 GW stable, cheap electricity.

The political scientist emphasizes that the blocking took place for political reasons, while for citizens it means the loss of potentially cheaper light and heat.

"Know: for 'EU' and 'Voice' interests of Ukraine are just a background for the rating. Not your accounts. Not your energy. Not your safety," he added.

The situation is complicated by the fact that Bulgaria is now reviewing its intentions. Due to its own energy needs and geopolitical instability in the Sofia region, it may refuse to transmit reactors. The final decision should be made by the Bulgaria Parliament.

It should be reminded that only in February 2025 the Verkhovna Rada still adopted a law that allows you to buy reactors. However, according to Oleshchuk, after a time, the agreement may no longer take place.
