After the large-scale invasion of Russian troops, hundreds of kilometers of fortifications were built around Kyiv and several rings of defense were created, as reported by the commander of the Land Forces, Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavlyuk.
After heading the Kyiv Operational Military Administration for several months and commanding the capital's defense forces for a year, Pavlyuk emphasized: "In this position, we have carried out a huge amount of work in a year. Approximately 1,000 kilometers of fortifications have been built and three defensive circles have been created around Kyiv. We paid special attention to strengthening the defense along the Chernobyl direction. We have taken all measures to prevent sudden enemy attacks.".
According to him, today the defense of the capital continues to be expanded and strengthened. “Currently, long-term concrete fortifications are being actively built. With a neighbor like Russia, we have to be ready for war at any moment. The future of Ukraine depends on the stability of Kyiv’s defense,” Pavlyuk explained.
This day marks the second anniversary of the liberation of the Kyiv region from Russian occupiers in Ukraine. In 2022, residents of such settlements in the Kyiv region as Vorzel, Bucha, Borodyanka, Irpin, Gostomel and others were under occupation for almost a month.
