An indictment has been filed in Lviv court against a 38-year-old resident of Transcarpathia and her 17-year-old nephew, who are accused of fraud against an elderly man.
As reported by the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office, the incident occurred in September of this year. The woman illegally took possession of a bank card and two SIM cards of a 68-year-old Lviv resident. So that the victim would not notice the theft, the attacker returned the phone and wallet to their places.
That same day, she used her pensioner card to make several payments in stores in Lviv. Meanwhile, her nephew changed the PIN code of her bank card and the password in her husband's mobile application, which allowed her to withdraw another 35,000 hryvnias from her account through ATMs.
In total, the fraudsters caused losses of over 40 thousand hryvnias. Soon after, law enforcement officers detained both suspects. At the prosecutor's request, the court chose for them a preventive measure in the form of detention with the right to post bail.
The investigation is ongoing, and the case will soon be heard in court.
