Eggs will rise in price before Easter

As of the beginning of 2024, egg prices in Ukraine remain stable, varying between 62-68 hryvnias for a dozen. However, with the approach of Easter, which this year falls on May 5, a gradual rise in price is possible with the traditional increase in demand for these products.

The analyst of the Association "Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business" (UKAB) Maxim Hopko reported that after the holidays the prices of eggs in Ukraine decreased, surprised by consumers. The average cost of a dozen eggs now ranges from 62-68 UAH, and even reduced to 58 UAH in individual stores. Reducing value was made possible by favorable weather conditions and a stable energy situation in the country. Warm weather in January and February reduced the cost of heating of poultry farms, and the restoration of production also helped to reduce prices.

However, with the approach of Easter, which is traditionally accompanied by an increase in demand for eggs, prices can start to increase gradually. Maxim Hopko predicts that prices can rise from April 20 , when demand for eggs will grow actively. Warm weather, which will persist in April, can affect cost stability as it reduces production costs.

After holidays, the demand for eggs usually decreases, which leads to a decrease in prices. It is expected that after Easter, the cost of eggs will return to the beginning of 2024, which is typical for this period. Traditionally, after peak demand, egg prices are reduced to more familiar indicators.
