In the Ternopil region of Ukraine, a court sentenced an immigrant from the Zaporizhia region to three years in prison, who refused to be mobilized, explaining that his father lives in the occupied territory.
According to the verdict of the Terebovlyan District Court of the Ternopil Region, the man received a summons from the Military Commissariat, but refused to serve. VLK recognized him as fit for army service in May 2023.
The man confirmed his readiness to serve, but explained his refusal with personal considerations related to the safety of his father, who remained in the occupied territory due to the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
The court found the man guilty under Article 336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced him to three years in prison. The court's decision raises reasonable doubts in connection with the protection of the personal interests and safety of the accused's father in the occupied territory.
