Transportation of dead defenders has become a corruption business in Kryvyi Rih

In Kryvyi Rih, law enforcement officers exposed a large -scale corruption scheme organized by city council officials. According to the investigation, the participants of the criminal organization appropriated almost UAH 7 million, allocated from the budget for the maintenance of cemeteries, transportation of bodies of fallen servicemen and repair of city squares.

According to the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, the organizer of the criminal scheme was the head of one of the municipal enterprises of the Kryvyi Rih City Council. He involved the heads of departments of the executive committee, employees of the municipal enterprise, directors of contractors, entrepreneurs and accountant in theft.

During 2023–2024, these persons conducted formal tenders, concluded contracts with companies related to the scheme, and then entered into the reporting false data on the volume of work. The cost of services and materials was systematically inflated.

The funds transferred from the local budget to the accounts of the luck companies were subsequently distributed among the participants of the scheme.

During 80 searches, the suspects seized more than 1 million hryvnias, $ 68,000, 28 thousand euros, mobile phones, bank cards, computer equipment, rough records and documentation. Among the found are cars that could be used in cash and documentation.

There are currently 9 people detained. Three of them have already chosen a pre -trial detention measure without the possibility of bail. The rest of the rest is resolved on preventive measures.

The investigation is ongoing, and the amount of damage caused can increase - it is possible that similar schemes were in place in other areas of activity of the municipal enterprise.
