In Ukraine, the health care system is gradually being reformed, and one of the important steps was the introduction of free primary medical care services for patients who signed a declaration with their doctor. Such services are available to citizens, regardless of whether they have chosen a communal, private institution or a self-employed doctor (individual entrepreneur). This means that everyone who has a declaration can receive the necessary medical care free of charge within the limits of the state medical package.
In Ukraine, most health issues can be resolved by a family doctor whose services are included in the "Primary medical care" package, the National Health Service of Ukraine said.
As explained by the National Health Service, the package of primary medical care includes:
- dynamic monitoring of patients' health, diagnosis and treatment of the most common infectious and non-infectious diseases, injuries, poisonings, pathological and physiological conditions;
- laboratory diagnostics (general blood and urine tests, glucose, cholesterol, rapid tests);
- instrumental diagnostics (ECG, examination to control the functional work of the lungs, measurement of visual acuity, examination of the external auditory canal and tympanic membrane).
This does not mean that you will be tested or have an EKG in the doctor's office or on the day of the appointment, the National Health Service clarified. The department noted that each primary care institution regulates these processes differently, everything also depends on the form of ownership of the institution.
"In any case, these examinations are free of charge, regardless of where you have the declaration - in a communal or private institution or at a doctor-FOP," the department added.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health approved the list of diseases and conditions for which medical cannabis will be prescribed. They can be obtained only by electronic prescription. It is assumed that the use of these drugs will need to be stopped if the desired therapeutic effect is not obtained within 4-12 weeks.
At the end of November, it became known that the salary of family doctors in Ukraine will be increased. The budget for 2025 foresees an increase in the capitation rate — the amount paid for medical care of one patient.
