A 15-year-old boy and girl set off explosions near police stations in Kharkiv, working under the direction of Russian special services. As reported by the Security Service of Ukraine, the teenagers were recruited through online forums where they promised quick earnings.
The boy collected the explosives according to the instructions given by the Russian agents, and the girl took the ready-made explosives from the hiding place. They left it in garbage containers near two regional police stations, next to which they placed mobile phones for video broadcasting of the moment of the explosion.
Fortunately, the explosions did not result in casualties, but the SBU has already opened a criminal case. Teenagers face up to 12 years in prison for attempting to organize terrorist attacks.
This is another example of how the Russian special services try to influence young people, using the Internet and promising financial benefits for carrying out terrorist acts. The SBU continues its investigation and is working to find other possible recruits.
