The former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, expressed serious concern about the future of Ukraine in case of refusal to join NATO. In an interview with the Kyiv Independent , he noted that if Ukraine does not receive membership in the Alliance, Russia may become an aggressor again in a few years.
According to Kuleba, the next generation of Ukrainian politicians will focus on rebuilding the country after the war, but the generation after them may come to power with revanchist attitudes. This, according to him, will lead to the desire to win back territories and make Russia "pay" for everything it did to Ukraine during the war.
Kuleba is convinced that after the economic recovery of Ukraine, arguments in favor of revenge and punishment of Russia may become dominant in domestic politics. He indicated that this will contribute to the strengthening of aggressive rhetoric and may even lead to new military stages in relations between Ukraine and Russia.
