Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podoliak expressed his opinion on the “peace plans” that are often proposed in the international arena. He noted that the main problem with such initiatives is not only their contradiction with Ukrainian aspirations, but also their categorical impracticability.
“They contradict basic logic: the aggressor’s failure to lose only encourages him to continue his expansion,” explained Podoliak. He emphasized that such peace initiatives encourage Ukraine to accept the illogical thesis that shooting down NATO missiles could escalate the conflict.
Podoliak ironically noted that proposals to “appease the aggressor” could lead to an increase in his aggressiveness. “Do the engineers of illogical diplomatic structures that precisely encourage the aggressor to raise the genocidal stakes deserve respect?” he asked rhetorically.
This year, Brazil and China presented a plan to end the war in Ukraine that does not include the withdrawal of Russian troops or punishment of war criminals. Podoliak emphasized that such an approach does not take into account the security interests of Ukraine and Europe, which raises reasonable doubts about its feasibility.
He called for a more decisive approach in international politics that would leave no room for compromises to the detriment of Ukraine's sovereignty.
