The adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak made an official statement in which he pointed to Russia as a possible culprit of the explosions at the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. According to Podoliak, Ukraine has nothing to do with this incident and did not receive any benefits from it.
"Such an act can be carried out only in the presence of large technical and financial resources... and who had all this (...)? Only Russia," Podolyak noted in his written comments.
"Ukraine has nothing to do with the explosions on the North Stream," said Podolyak, adding that Ukraine did not receive any strategic or tactical advantage from the explosions.
The Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines, which transport gas under the Baltic Sea, suffered a series of explosions in September 2022, seven months after the Russian Federation launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Germany, Denmark and Sweden launched an investigation, and the Swedes found traces of explosives on several items recovered from the blast site, confirming that the blasts were deliberate.
Polish prosecutors said on Wednesday that "Poland has received a European arrest warrant issued by Berlin in connection with the explosions, but the suspect, a Ukrainian named Volodymyr Z., has already left Poland," the publication writes.
