As the New Year holidays approach, forecasters of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center shared the weather forecast for the last days of 2024. As forecaster Nataliya Ptukha reported, significant precipitation is not expected in Ukraine until the end of December, but wet snow is possible in some regions on December 31.
The weather forecaster said that there will be no significant precipitation in Ukraine until December 31, fog is expected in some places. At the same time, on December 31 and on New Year's Eve, snow is likely in many regions, albeit wet.
Thus, precipitation is expected in the northern and eastern regions, as well as in the Volyn, Rivne, Poltava, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
In Kyiv and the Kyiv region, there may also be a little wet snow in places, Ptukha predicts.
At the same time, she noted that this snow will not last long and will melt quickly.
New Year's temperature
The forecaster noted that the air temperature at night will average from 3 degrees of frost to 3 degrees of heat. At the same time, on the afternoon of December 31, the temperature will range from 0 to 6 degrees above zero (up to +9 degrees in the south of Ukraine). It will be a little cooler in the north - from 3 degrees of frost to 3 degrees of heat, both during the day and at night.
At the same time, intensive spring warming is expected on January 1. "In Ukraine, it's +3...+8 degrees Celsius in most regions during the day... In the southern part and in the Carpathians, it's up to 11 degrees above zero," said Ptukha.
"Classic" winter, according to her, can only be seen in the Carpathians.
"2-7 degrees of frost at night. During the day - about zero degrees. And the snow cover there, in principle, will be maintained," the forecaster concluded.
What will the weather be like at the beginning of the year
Earlier, Nataliya Ptukha predicted that the weather in the first week of the new year and in January in general will not differ much from the current one.
According to her forecast, in general, it will be relatively warm in January, and if there is snow, it will be sporadic. Experts forecast the average monthly temperature in January to be between 0...-3 degrees, which is 1.5-2 degrees higher than the climatic norm for this month.
