Weather for January 2025: from snowfall to mild winter

The first month of 2025 promises Ukrainians a variety of weather conditions. While some regions are preparing for severe cold and snowfall, others can expect an official warm winter with positive temperatures.

Weather forecaster Natalka Didenko told about it.

"In the coming days of January, the weather in Ukraine will be mainly without precipitation, warm enough for the beginning of the new winter month. Temperatures during the day will range from +3 to +8 degrees, and in Crimea even up to +12 degrees. New Year's Eve, as expected, passed with a temperature of +2 to -3 degrees of frost," noted Natalka Didenko.

However, it is worth paying attention to the wind, as January 1 and 2 were quite windy. The wind gusts were particularly noticeable in the west of the country, and on January 2 they spread to the west and north of Ukraine. Gusts reached 15-20 meters per second, so people should be careful.

"Ukraine has entered a warm zone, but this warming will not last long. Temperatures will remain high only on January 1 and 2, and on January 3 the temperature will start to decrease," the forecaster added.

An atmospheric front will approach from the northwest, bringing rain and sleet to the western and northern regions of Ukraine. Ice may form on the roads.

A permanent snow cover should not be expected, as we are talking about mixed precipitation, and the snow will melt quickly. The temperature during the day and night will vary from -3 degrees of frost to +4 degrees of heat. In the south and east of Ukraine, the daytime temperature may even reach +3-+8 degrees Celsius again.

A certain decrease in temperature can be expected at night, but the frost will not be severe. It will be moderate, with temperatures ranging from -5 to -8 degrees below zero.
