The Polish government has announced the extension of temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees, including men, until September 2025. However, the conditions for paying assistance to families with children in the amount of PLN 800 (about UAH 7,810) will be changed.
This was reported by the PAP agency and Polskie radio.
As Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosyniak-Kamiś explained, the so-called 800+ payments and other assistance will be available to all families whose children attend a Polish school.
“There was a lot of information that people were receiving assistance and immediately leaving for Ukraine. We are tightening the system, making it more transparent,” said Kosyniak Kamysh.
According to him, the Polish government will continue to support those Ukrainian citizens who fled the war, but also expects "clear and understandable rules.".
The changes to the law, with the exception of some provisions, will come into effect on July 1, 2024.
The issue of depriving Ukrainian men of temporary protection has not yet been considered. We will remind, such a proposal was made by the Polish Minister of Defense.
