In the city of Nikopol, law enforcement officers detained a 23-year-old woman on suspicion of causing fatal injuries to her 10-year-old stepdaughter. This was reported by the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Police .
According to the investigation, a conflict between an adult woman and a child occurred on February 19 at around 1:00 p.m. in a private home. During the incident, the girl was hit multiple times, causing her to fall and sustain a head injury. Her condition then deteriorated sharply, and at around 3:30 p.m. the child was hospitalized in a serious condition, unconscious. Despite the efforts of doctors, she died the same day.

The suspect was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. She was informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - intentional grievous bodily harm, which caused the death of the victim.
A petition to the court for the selection of a preventive measure is currently being prepared. The sanction of the incriminating article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to ten years. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
