Law enforcement officers have launched almost 9,000 investigations into draft evasion since the start of the full-scale war, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said during a telethon on Thursday, January 4. It is noted that 2,600 of these cases have already been brought to court.
Klymenko explained that first, the employees of the territorial centers of personnel registration draw up a protocol on violations of the registration. If a person continues to evade mobilization or tries to change his place of residence, the military commissars of the National Police provide information about this. The latter is starting an investigation under Article 336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison. The Minister of Internal Affairs emphasized the importance of citizens fulfilling their duty in the conditions of war, stressing that everyone should serve either in the rear or at the front.
At the end of December, the government introduced draft law No. 10379 to the Verkhovna Rada, which provides for increased liability for evasion of mobilization, in particular, an increase in fines and prison terms for violators.
