Law enforcement officers detained three people who tried to force the former official to pay a far -fetched debt . The persons were threatened with physical violence not only by the man but also by his family, and later resorted to frank terror - set fire to his house and car.
Operatives of the strategic investigation management in Dnipropetrovsk region and investigators of the regional police with the power support of KORD fighters and a special purpose police regiment detained three defendants while receiving from the victim part of "debt" - $ 22,000.
In total, criminal authority and two current deputies of one of the city councils - the heads of utility companies - demanded $ 60,000. They claimed that the expenser of the mayor was allegedly owed to them.
For some time, the intruders put psychological pressure on the victim, threatening him and his close physical violence. Subsequently, they resorted to more radical actions: involving unidentified persons, throwing a man's light noise grenades in the courtyard, setting fire to his house and car. Fearing for his life and safety of the family, the victim was forced to agree to criminal demands.
Law enforcement officers were detained in procedural criminal authority and two deputies. Investigators, based on the evidence collected, declared them suspicion under Part 4 of Art. 189 (demanding) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court sent all suspects in custody. They can be threatened with up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Further measures are underway to establish all persons involved in this crime.
