A scandal is unfolding in the Runa Runo Polonina in the Transcarpathian region due to the beginning of the construction of winds without compliance with the requirements of environmental legislation. The authorities of the Turier-Remethiv village council changed the purpose of land, opening the way to the construction of a large-scale wind power plant, despite the lack of a conclusion from the environmental impact assessment.
It is about changing the purpose of 28 land - from agricultural to energy. The deputies voted unanimously for this decision. However, according to local activists, the vote was gone without public consultations, and the protest of the public was ignored.
Immediately after the decision was made in the valley began to flood the foundations for wind turbine. At the same time, the Ministry of Environmental Protection has confirmed that these foundations are part of the wind power project, and carrying out any construction work without a conclusion from the environmental impact assessment is a violation of the law.
The company is engaged in the company of UK "Wind Parks of Ukraine", which was repaired from Kramatorsk to Transcarpathia in 2022. Its ultimate beneficiaries are former MP Maxim Yefimov and businessman Edward Mrtchan.
Runa Polonina is a unique natural area with tourist potential, and such intervention without proper environmental assessments is of serious concern among environmentalists and public activists.
