The Polish government announced the extension of temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees, including men, until September 2025. However, the conditions for payment of assistance to families with children in the amount of 800 zlotys (about 7,810 hryvnias) will be changed.
This was reported by the PAP agency and Radio Polskie.
As Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosyniak-Kamish explained, the so-called 800+ payments and other assistance will be available to all families whose children go to a Polish school.
"There was a lot of information that people received help and immediately left for Ukraine. We are tightening the system, making it more transparent," Kosinyak Kamysh noted.
According to him, the Polish government will continue to support those citizens of Ukraine who fled the war, but they also expect "clear and understandable rules."
The changes to the law, with the exception of some provisions, will enter into force on July 1, 2024.
The issue of depriving Ukrainian men of temporary protection has not yet been considered. It will be recalled that such a proposal was made by the Minister of Defense of Poland.
