Poland and Ukraine discuss closing borders for trade in goods

Representatives of Poland and Ukraine are conducting negotiations regarding the possible closure of the border between the countries for trade. According to Tusk, this topic will also be discussed during his meeting with farmers. He pointed to existing attempts to limit the supply of agricultural products from Ukraine, proposing restrictions that would correspond to the average level for 2022-2023.

In Brussels, Poland plans to make a proposal, according to which the reference period will be the time before the start of the conflict. This is aimed at tightening the limits to protect Polish producers. At the same time, negotiations are underway regarding the temporary closure of the border for the exchange of goods.

Tusk emphasized that any decision to restrict trade with Ukraine should be temporary and be made in agreement with Kyiv in order to avoid excessive tension between the countries. However, he stressed the need to find a long-term solution.
