Tensions continue to rise in eastern Europe due to military actions and security threats from Russia. In the context of these events, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Radosław Sikorski, appealed to his colleagues from the European Union with a request to lift restrictions on the supply of long-range weapons to Ukraine.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Radosław Sikorski, appealed to the EU foreign ministers in Brussels to lift the restrictions imposed by their countries on the use of long-range weapons transferred to Ukraine by Ukraine - Polska Agencja Prasowa.
"Self-defense is completely legal. In this way, Ukraine will be able to prevent Russian attacks, such as the recent shelling of a children's cancer hospital in Kyiv, by destroying aircraft firing cruise missiles and attacking the airports from which they take off."
Sikorsky admitted that he proposed to convene an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers at the end of August in Ukraine, for example, in Lviv, but Hungary blocked this idea.
According to the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry, during the first part of the meeting of the EU foreign ministers in Brussels, most of the time was taken up by the discussion about where the formal or informal Council of Foreign Ministers should be held during Hungary's presidency of the EU Council this six months.
Previously, there were unofficial reports that within the framework of the boycott of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and his self-proclaimed "peacekeeping mission" in Russia, the head of European diplomacy of the EU, Josep Borrell, may hold the meeting scheduled for the end of August not in Budapest, but for example, in Brussels.
"I proposed a compromise solution for the Council to be held in Ukraine. This would be a sign of our solidarity with the country," said Sikorsky, adding that for logistical reasons it would be easier to organize this meeting in western Ukraine, for example, in Lviv.
