Polish carriers are preparing for a new protest action on the Ukrainian-Polish border. According to the Committee of Protection of Carriers and Employers in the field of transport of Poland, it is planned to overlap the checkpoint "Dorogosk-Yagodin". The protest date has not been announced at this time.
The initiators of the action explain their actions "disappointment in connection with the inaction of the Polish government" and call "to restore the balance in the transport market". The main reason for the dissatisfaction is the abolition of permits for Ukrainian carriers, which operated as part of the liberalization of transportation after the beginning of a full -scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine.
“We want to return the levels of the game. Polish companies are now losing competitiveness due to uneven distribution of orders, which are increasingly reaching Ukrainian firms, ”the committee state.
This is not the first wave of protests from the Polish carriers. In 2023-2024, a number of checkpoints were actually blocked for several months, which led to a significant slowdown in freight, delays with goods delivery and tension in relations between Kiev and Warsaw.
The Ukrainian side has repeatedly called for a balanced approach and emphasized the importance of providing humanitarian and strategic transit, especially in war. The European Commission also does not support the border crossing to Ukrainian carriers, referring to the current agreements on transport liberalization.
Nevertheless, Polish transport organizations continue to demand the return of permits or the introduction of new regulation mechanisms that would limit the presence of Ukrainian companies in the Polish market.
It is unknown how the next exacerbation will continue on the border for a long time - it will all depend on the Polish authorities and the level of protest support among carriers.
