On Tuesday, February 20, a large-scale protest was held in Poland, which was announced by farmers and a number of other communities. Their actions consist in blocking roads of state and regional significance, as well as checkpoints on the border with Ukraine.
According to the statement of the spokesman of the State Border Service of Ukraine Andriy Demchenko, as of this morning, six out of nine checkpoints remain blocked, in particular: "Yagodin", "Ustylug", "Ugryniv", "Rava-Ruska", "Sheghini" and "Krakivets" ". The number of trucks in queues on these routes is about 2,900 units waiting to travel in the direction of Ukraine. The movement of trucks in the opposite direction is also stopped.
The biggest queues are observed near the checkpoints "Yagodin" and "Krakivets". It was noted that in certain periods of time trucks were not allowed to pass in the direction of "Yagodin".
Regarding the reason for today's protest in Poland, Demchenko noted that Ukraine did not receive information from the Polish side about the possibility of blocking other directions on the border.
According to the Polish edition of RMF FM, farmers intensified their protest action at the border crossing in Dorohusk, where trucks moving towards Ukraine will not be allowed to pass until 18:00.
Polish farmers are demanding restrictions on the import of agricultural products from Ukraine, calling it the "destruction of Poland."
In addition to blocking the border, protesters will also block roads in major cities. Complications in the movement of transport have already been observed in Krakow, and there are possible problems with the movement of exits from the city and main junctions. The day before, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, emphasized that the blockade on the border with Poland shows the erosion of solidarity, and the reason for it is not grain, but politics, since only 5% of Ukrainian grain exports pass through Poland.
