In Bozhkovskaya Correctional Colony No. 16 , located in the Poltava region, a system of brutal torture and murder of prisoners has been exposed . According to the investigation, five people have already been detained and face up to 10 years in prison .
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
Horrible things happened in the Bozhkovskaya correctional colony in the Poltava region: torture, blackmail, and murder.
As of today, the number of suspects in this case has increased. All of them face sentences of up to 10 years in prison.
This was stated during the telethon by Tetyana Sapyan, strategic communications advisor to the State Bureau of Investigation.
There are already 5 suspects in the case of a large-scale system of torture of prisoners in the Bozhkovskaya colony. Law enforcement officers learned about the facts thanks to close cooperation with public organizations, but also, to identify violations, operational investigators did a lot of work.
Currently, charges are being filed under a number of articles of the Criminal Code. Here is what SBI advisor Tetyana Sapyan said:
These are terrible things, the first suspicions were announced last year, in late spring 2024. Today we say that there are already 5 suspects. They are all detained and are in pre-trial detention centers.
According to a spokeswoman for the State Bureau of Investigation, the spectrum of suspicions has expanded.
Once the case is brought to trial, the defendants will be charged with forming a criminal group, torturing and being involved in the murders of prisoners, and abusing their official position. In total, if you sum up the articles of the criminal code, this is a penalty of up to 10 years in prison.
It was established that inhuman living conditions were established for new arrivals to Bozhkovskaya Correctional Colony No. 16 in the Poltava region.
It was just abuse – they threatened the prisoners before settling in, forced them to pick up the floor, and filmed it. If the newcomer refused, they would start mocking the prisoner, and they would film it. The SBI discovered a huge archive of such horrific videos, which were then used to blackmail the prisoners and extort money from their relatives and friends.
"The facts have now been established. We hope that when the court considers these terrible acts, the punishment will be the most severe," noted the strategic communications advisor of the State Bureau of Investigation.
