During the martial law, about 50 people who tried to cross the border illegally died on the border section across the Tisza River. This was announced by the spokesman of the State Border Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, on the air of the telethon, noting that many of them went to the doctors with hypothermia due to the dangerous way of crossing the border.
According to Demchenko, attempts to illegally cross the border through rivers, in particular through the Tisza, are not only related to the violation of the law, but also repeatedly ended in tragedy. "We note that among them there are desperate people who choose for themselves the border line that runs along the rivers, try to cross these water obstacles by swimming or using watercraft," said the representative of the border guards.
He also noted that such attempts often lead to hypothermia and other serious health problems. The State Border Service regularly identifies such persons by providing medical assistance, however, unfortunately, many do not have time to receive the necessary assistance.
The choice of rivers for illegal border crossings, particularly such as the Tisza, is extremely dangerous. "This is the greatest risk to people's lives and health, because mountain rivers can be very cold, and their currents can be strong, which increases the likelihood of tragedies," Demchenko emphasized.
The Tisza River has become a place for many attempts to escape abroad, which have already resulted in significant human casualties. This situation highlights the importance of border control and the need to be cautious about such extremes in the search for security.
Border guards warn that attempts to illegally cross the border through water obstacles can be fatal. They call on citizens to be careful and remind that illegal crossing of the border is not only a criminal offense, but also endangers the life and health of those who try to do it.
