Warning for Ukrainians: price increases for the most necessary products are expected - what exactly is going up in price?

Ukrainians were told about expected changes in the prices of basic products in 2024. According to Oleg Pendzin, an economic expert and member of the Economic Discussion Club, it is possible to predict changes in prices only until the spring of this year.

Regarding the borscht set, a small increase of 2-3% per month is expected in early 2024. This is due to the costs of storing vegetables and fruits, which are in special warehouses with the required temperature. The expert explains that the cost of preserving the harvest will raise the cost of the borscht set.

In March, new vegetables and fruits will appear on the markets, but their price will be higher due to greenhouse cultivation or imports. The cost of young vegetables is expected to be significantly higher compared to the old crop.

As for meat and dairy products, their prices are formed differently and may depend on weather conditions and animal husbandry conditions. In conditions of closed keeping of animals on farms, milk production may be less, but with the beginning of spring, with warm weather, an increase in production and a decrease in prices for dairy products are expected.

In any case, it is predicted that the price of products will increase by 5% in the first months of 2024. This can happen only if there are no problems with the reduction of aid from Western partners. If aid is reduced, inflation and product prices are expected to increase.
