Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko sharply criticized the current head of state, Volodymyr Zelensky, in a new interview with the British publication The Times . In particular, he stated that Zelensky is trying to "eliminate any competitors" and "rule with an iron fist."
Poroshenko particularly emphasized the personal sanctions imposed against him. “Why is he doing this? Because he hates me on a biological, chemical level. And, to be honest, I don’t like Zelensky either,” the ex-president said. He added that even despite his personal dislike, he never acted against Zelensky during the war.
The ex-president also accused Zelensky of violating the Constitution by allegedly preventing him from participating in parliamentary meetings. “This is absolutely no different from Russia,” Poroshenko said.
In the same interview, he advised Zelensky to pay attention to the experience of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in building a dialogue with Donald Trump, hinting that Zelensky should be more flexible in communicating with the American political establishment.
