Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko criticized the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, accusing it of organizing so-called "meat assaults" - offensive operations with significant losses of personnel. In his address, Poroshenko called for abandoning such actions and focusing on "rescuing Ukrainian soldiers.".
"We must stop using the people of Ukraine as a tool for 'meat assault' operations," he said, responding to a question about how to deal with Russia's superiority in manpower on the battlefield.
In an interview with the Atlantic Council, he criticized the sending of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers to storm positions captured by the Russians, "because someone is afraid to report to the authorities that we are losing this forest.".
Poroshenko believes that Ukraine should go on the defensive and "do the same thing that Russia did in the spring of 2023," referring to the construction of fortifications.
"Stop giving the order for an offensive operation now. We can do it (go on the offensive – Ed.), but the price will be colossal. And it will give a negative result in the future," he said, referring to the high losses of personnel.
“We just need to stop working on TV and start working to save the soldiers,” Poroshenko said.
