Poroshenko appealed to the European Commissioner for help to travel abroad

European Commissioner for Enlargement Oliver Vargei published a letter signed by Petro Poroshenko, in which the ex-president of Ukraine asks the European Commissioner to influence the government of Ukraine and stop the "discriminatory practice" of not allowing the opposition abroad.

"I ask you to send appropriate messages to the government of Ukraine in order to strongly encourage the authorities to stop discriminatory practices against opposition parties and to guarantee comprehensive observance of political pluralism and the rights of the opposition in Ukraine in accordance with the criteria for EU membership," the document published by Varge emphasizes.

Further, Poroshenko asks, if "your request does not find an answer", to raise the mentioned issue in the context of the upcoming report of the European Commission on the progress of Ukraine in moving towards the EU and the development of the negotiating framework for accession.

Officially, neither Poroshenko nor "European Solidarity" commented on the sending of the letter.
