The former president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, criticized the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, calling it an organization of so-called "meat assaults" — offensive operations with significant losses of personnel. In his address, Poroshenko urged to abandon such actions and focus on "rescuing Ukrainian soldiers."
"We must stop using the people of Ukraine as a tool for "meat assault" operations," he said, answering a question about how to deal with Russia's superiority in manpower on the battlefield.
In an interview with the Atlantic Council organization, he criticized the sending of the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in assaults to repel positions captured by the Russians, "due to the fact that someone is afraid to report to the top that we are losing this forest."
Poroshenko believes that Ukraine should go on the defensive and "do the same thing that Russia did in the spring of 2023", talking about the construction of fortifications.
“Stop ordering the offensive now. We can do it (go on the offensive - Ed.), but the price will be enormous. And it will give a negative result in the future," he said, referring to high personnel losses.
"We just need to stop working on TV and start working to save soldiers," Poroshenko said.
