The National Police of Ukraine announced suspicion against an official of the Kyiv City State Administration (KMDA) for official negligence, which led to significant losses for the Kyiv community. The head of one of the departments of the KMDA signed an agreement with a private company regarding the purchase and sale of real estate, which, according to law enforcement officers, led to an artificial underestimation of the object's value and illegal alienation of communal property.
It is a covered pedestrian gallery - an overhead passage from the Central Railway Station of Kyiv to the high-speed tram tracks. The value of this object was significantly reduced compared to the real one, which allowed a private structure to illegally purchase it. According to the National Police, the actions of the official led to particularly large losses - UAH 63 million , which is a serious financial loss for the budget of the city of Kyiv.
Official negligence of the official, in particular, the lack of control over the proper conduct of inspections and the filing of an appeal against a court decision, caused a stir among the public and executive bodies. The suspect faces up to five years in prison if proven guilty in court.
This case is another example of the importance of controlling the expenditure of budget funds and property that is in communal ownership. At the same time, the situation raises questions about the effectiveness of control mechanisms in the KMDA.
The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officers promise to provide additional details regarding the next steps in this case.
