One of the key advisers to Donald Trump on national security, the retired Lieutenant General Kit Kellog, will visit Rome as part of the US delegation this week. About it reports Kyiv Post with reference to sources.
The purpose of the visit is to meet with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and to participate in the conference on the restoration of Ukraine, which will be held on July 10-11 in the capital of Italy under the chairmanship of Prime Minister George Meloni.
The forum is expected to include the President of the European Commission Ursula von Der Lyen, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and other high -ranking officials.
Keith Kellogg is an influential figure in Trump's environment and is actively involved in the formation of his foreign policy position on Ukraine. The visit to Rome is considered as a signal to strengthen the role of informal communication channels between the Trump and Kiev team.
It has not yet been confirmed whether other representatives of the current or Trump administration will join Kellog.
Against the background of increasing interest in the post -war restoration of Ukraine and changing the schedule in American politics, the presence of Kelloga at the conference can be an indicator of future approaches of the Republican Party to Ukraine.
