Transferring production of the Patriot system to Ukraine appears to be a real possibility, and negotiations are already underway on this occasion. This was stated by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA, Oksana Markarova, during her participation in the national telethon.
"This is the task facing us from the president and the minister of defense. Negotiations are already going on quite seriously, starting from the moment of the last visit of the president to the USA, and then our companies met. This is really concrete work," she emphasized.
Markarova added that two meetings of Ukrainian and American businesses took place between the visits. She noted that at least the production of a large part of the complex is being discussed, as well as the possibility of creating finished products.
First of all, there are no clear deadlines, but Markarova assured that Ukraine is actively accelerating the process.
"It is absolutely possible. There are already many companies that cooperate with Ukrainian enterprises and have started construction or joint projects. We will actively work on this, including such complex projects as Patriot," she emphasized.
It is also worth reminding that the European Union has the opportunity to purchase Patriot systems from countries that possess them, but do not seek to transfer them to Ukraine.
It was previously reported that Ukraine is actively negotiating with allies to receive two batteries of the Patriot air defense system and one SAMP/T.
In addition, Ukraine has found one hundred free Patriot air defense systems in the world, but hopes to negotiate the delivery of seven additional Patriot batteries as soon as possible.
