According to our source in the Office of the President, deliveries of F-16 fighter jets are again delayed and the first planes are now expected to arrive in the fall. It is worth noting that all our partners, who promised to provide us with the first aircraft by the end of 2023, did not fulfill their promises. The government in Bankova expresses dissatisfaction with the approach of our partners, who publicly declare their support, but actually delay the process of supplying even the promised weapons.
According to Berlingske, the delivery of F-16 fighter jets from Denmark to Ukraine is delayed for six months. Instead of receiving the first six planes by the end of 2024, they are not expected to be delivered until the second quarter, the defense ministry said.
It is noted that the delivery schedule has always depended on a number of conditions, including the successful training of Ukrainian pilots, as well as the availability of the necessary logistics and infrastructure to service the F-16 in Ukraine. However, the ministry did not provide more detailed information on this.
According to Berlingske, six Ukrainian pilots are currently undergoing training on F-16 fighters in Denmark. In August, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen promised to send 19 F-16 aircraft to Kyiv.
It was previously reported that Norway completed the transfer of two F-16 fighter jets to Denmark for training Ukrainian pilots. Norway also confirmed sending 10 instructors to Denmark to train Ukrainian pilots.
Norway also announced this week that it would send two F-16 fighter jets to Denmark to train Ukrainian pilots and confirmed its intention to send two two-seat F-16 fighter jets and about fifty personnel to Denmark to train Ukrainian pilots.
Ukrainian pilots are undergoing or plan to undergo training in the USA, Romania, Denmark, France and Great Britain. In the latter country, six Ukrainian pilots completed basic training, including learning English, before Christmas.
